http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=70310 This video is a response to a question I received off of youtube. One of the most important considerations you can make is the pack. Look for one that uses YKK self repairing zippers. The pack in the video is a Maxpedition Falcon II Pygmy.
Inside of the pack I carry:
Hammock
Rain Poncho
Poncho liner
Food
First Aid kit
GPS
2 Compasses
TOPO Maps
Water Filter
Water Bottle
And a lot of other stuff.

Hand crank flashlight for a backpack
Hand crank flashlight for a backpack

When getting your backpack ready for a camping trip, consider a hand crank flashlight attached to the top of your pack.
The flashlight in the video is a Eco TwistR and is supposed to give 10 minutes of light for 1 minute of crank time. I added a clasp to the flashlight so it could be attached to the top of the pack. That way its easy to find in the middle of the night.
To make the flashlight real easy to find, just connect it to the outside of the pack.
The pack in the video is a Condor II by Maxpedition. http://www.maxpedition.com/
